The “Griha Arogya: Healthcare at Your Doorstep” initiative is organised by the Department of Health and Family Welfare. It operates as a comprehensive door-to-door non-communicable disease (NCD) screening programme across the state. The public health initiative was initially rolled out on a targeted pilot basis in Kolar district. Frontline healthcare teams visit residential households directly to conduct non-invasive primary health assessments. The primary objective is to detect chronic medical conditions early and arrest preventable lifestyle disease progression. The programme specifically focuses on evaluating individuals aged 30 years and above for chronic illnesses. This grassroots initiative brings essential diagnostic and preventive health checks straight to citizens’ homes.

Screening Scope, Clinical Care, and Health Camps

The operational protocol systematically conducts targeted screenings for diabetes, hypertension, and common cancers. Oncology screenings specifically evaluate at-risk individuals for oral, breast, and cervical cancers at early stages. Patients diagnosed with chronic lifestyle conditions receive prescribed essential medicines completely free of cost. Doorstep medicine delivery provides significant relief to elderly citizens, bedridden individuals, and rural families. In addition to home visits, structured monthly health camps are conducted at local Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. Community health officers and medical personnel oversee patient follow-ups, diagnostic reviews, and wellness counselling. High-risk patients needing secondary or tertiary intervention are seamlessly referred to higher government hospitals. This integrated preventive model drastically reduces out-of-pocket medical expenditure for underserved populations.
