  • Also known as “Karnataka Kanchipuram.”
  • GI Tag: Granted in 2011 according to the source; GI Tag No. 53.

🧵 Weaving

  • In 1967, nearly half of Molakalmuru’s population was involved in silk weaving.
  • Traditionally associated with:

    • Pattasali
    • Devanga communities.
  • Present weaving community also includes Adidravida and Muslim communities.
  • Over 3,500 traditional weavers are currently engaged in weaving.
