The Koosina Mane initiative is implemented by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj. It was officially launched during the state government’s 2023–24 Budget. The scheme seeks to enhance female workforce participation by redistributing childcare burdens. It offers structured childcare support to rural women working under MGNREGA. Working mothers in surrounding localities are also permitted to utilize the crèche centers. MGNREGA women workers are trained and deployed as caregivers in these centers.These decentralized crèches are established and maintained as durable community assets.

Target Beneficiaries, Services, and Geographic Reach

The program specifically caters to infants and young toddlers under three years of age. It delivers essential healthcare checks, regular immunizations, and medical surveillance. Enrolled children receive balanced supplementary nutrition, clean drinking water, and hot meals. A secure and monitored daycare environment protects children while mothers work nearby. The facilities bridge critical developmental care before toddlers transition to Anganwadi centers. As of February 2024, Belagavi district recorded the highest number of centers at 288. Thousands of Gram Panchayats across Karnataka continue to establish these child welfare homes.
